Frame 7EA Replacement Parts Design and Manufacture

 

A client of Eta Technologies LLC (Eta Tech) was recently involved in a project where four (4) Frame 7EA gas turbines (60 Hz synchronous speed machines) were re-applied into a 50-Hz market geography. In addition, it was necessary to convert the combustion systems from a DLN-1 gas only configuration back to a dual fuel (gas/oil) single diffusion burner system. Unfortunately, this conversion requires a change-out of the outer combustion casings and flow sleeves, which were not available in the market in either new or used condition.

The client thus turned to Eta Tech to re-engineer, design and manufacture four (4) new sets of combustion casings, end covers and flow sleeves to meet the needs and schedule of the project. Eta Tech activities included:

  • Identifying a source of sample parts and capturing point cloud data by laser scanning
  • Design engineering and final component definition
  • Generating manufacturing packages and identifying sources
  • Managing the manufacturing and Quality Assurance processes
  • Schedule oversight
  • Conducting final inspections and compiling all documentation

Component definition was completed in one (1) month, and manufacturing of all 4 sets in six (6) months!
